FAQ

Why Should I choose CrossFit Oak Creek over other gyms?

You: At CrossFit Oak Creek our clients are our most valuable asset. You are an individual and not just a number or a scanner code like at other big box gyms. We care about helping you get RESULTS. We value each and every one of you and want to give you the most out of your experience at CrossFit Oak Creek. We take into consideration all components of fitness; not just working out. The other two most important factors to achieving results are nutrition and supplementation. A custom nutrition and supplementation program is included as part of your membership along with a physical assessment.
Our Staff:  At CrossFit Oak Creek our staff really cares about helping you. You will not find us running out the door as soon as class is done. They will stick around to help answer and questions. You can also email, call, or text us at any time. We pride ourselves on being there for you.
Our staff and trainers also live the part.  You will not see our trainers tell you one thing and do another. They all have real life experience, are in shape, and have to work for what they got. Most importantly they have been in your shoes and know how to get you where you want to go. Our trainers are the Real Deal.
Our Programs: Our programs are strategically designed to helping you achieve optimal physical health.

Boredom: Different workout every day! Check out our WOD (Workout Of the Day) Blog page for daily workouts.  Too many times we get bored with our exercise routine and don’t know how to change it up, so we quit.  We can make sure things are always new and exciting.

What makes CrossFit Oak Creek different than other gyms?

Our training is functional and challenging. The community is amazing and the coaching is first class. Motivation and encouragement are always our top priority with an emphasis on teaching and learning.
You don’t have to feel embarrassed or self-conscience about your body or fitness level. We welcome all people, all body types, all fitness levels.
Unfortunately, people go to the gym and waste their valuable time, doing the same thing everyday. At CrossFit Oak Creek, you won’t see the same workout for a couple months at a time. You will notice a difference in how you look, you how you feel, greater strength and better endurance. If you follow our coaches and plans, we guarantee positive results!

Do I have to be in shape to do CrossFit?
No. CrossFit is unique in its universal scalability, meaning two people at completely different fitness levels can perform the same workout using movements best suited to each of their individual capabilities. Therefore, a grandma or an elite athlete can be working out side by side and still get a challenging workout.

I have to get in shape first before I start?

This is a common misconception. The most elite athlete can come into the gym and find a workout challenging. You will never be “fit” enough. That’s why we are here and offer scaling options for each individual so that you can thrive in each workout on a personal level. Fitness is a lifelong journey, we are never really “there”.

I have never lifted weights before. Is CrossFit for me?
Yes. CrossFit is for people of all background. Our program can benefit anyone from a sedentary individual to an endurance athlete. Everyone will receive extensive coaching on proper form and technique.

What should I expect at my first CrossFit Oak Creek class?

Please arrive 5-10 minutes before the scheduled class to give yourself time to get ready to train.  Sessions start promptly  with a 5-10 minute group warm-up, followed by a skill-based exercise or movement that is usually part of the WOD. A WOD is our term used to describe the "Workout of the Day".  After working a skill, we move onto our WOD.  Our specialty is not specializing: everyday is a completely different workout. The WOD can last anywhere from 3-30 minutes.  We finish up each session by  performing any stretching or foam rolling necessary to cool down and by putting away all of our equipment.

What should I bring and wear to class?
Please wear clothes that are comfortable to exercise in. Proper footwear is important as well. Running shoes are ok, however,  we advise our members to wear shoes that do not have gel-paks or ‘bubbles’ in the heels. This creates a heel lift that puts undo pressure on your ankles, calves, knees, hips, and increases the tension placed on your lumbar region which can result in injuries.  A flat shoe is highly recommended for most of our activities.
In addition, please bring water, a towel, and most importantly, the right positive attitude!

Will CrossFit make me big and bulky?
No. CrossFit training itself will not make you big and bulky. There are a number of variables that come into play for that to happen. Especially for women. Most of our clients end up getting stronger, leaning out, losing inches, having more energy, building confidence and making new friends.
However, if getting bigger is your goal, we have other programs that we can customize specifically for you.

I have heard you can get hurt doing CrossFit, is this true?

You can injure yourself in any activity, but CrossFit is more safe than many activities people perform every day. We like to work with people in 3 stages. First: mechanics (learning how to do the movements with correct technique), Second: Consistency (the ability to do the movements over and over again with safe and relatively efficient technique), Third: Intensity (the speed at which you do the movements). One does not come before the other. We always start with Mechanics.

Can I get a good workout in under 30 minutes?

Yes, this is absolutely what we strongly believe in. More and more research shows that shorter duration/higher intensity workouts yield higher benefits/results. Basically, it just boils down to hard work. But the truth is, the longer the effort the lower our intensity. If you run 10 miles your intensity (power output) will be lower than if you run multiple 400 meter sprints. CrossFit Oak Creek does go beyond 30 min on occasion, but the majority of our workouts are shorter in duration. If you have a shorter workout, you can work harder by nature which can lend to a better response, especially combined with the movements we do. No matter who you are or what workouts you do, without hard work you will not receive results, which is why we encourage you to work to the limits of your physiological and psychological tolerances.

I feel it is too expensive, is this true?
We are competitively priced with all other group led workout programs in our local area. The reality is with the quality of instruction you get from our trainers, it is personal training at a fraction of the cost. In addition, we are offering you more than just a workout. Offer you 24/7 support to help you get the results you are looking for.
